Dad's Heart

IMG 6006
is normally a good, kind, and big heart…
But a few days ago, it gave him chest pain, and breathlesness. So my Mom rushed him up to the ER, and it was discovered that he had a near heart attack. His blood pressure was pretty high, and he had an irregular heartbeat. His stress test showed signs of blocked arteries. IMG 5987
He was transferred to Yale, which makes visiting him much easier. IMG 5966
Today he undergoes his angioplasty to see just what is going on. IMG 5974
If he has a simple blockage, he will receive a stent or two. If he has a full blockage, or multiple areas of blockage, then he will be a candidate for bypass surgery. IMG 5973
So we'll just see how it goes.IMG 5970
The kids have been very good, and love to go see him.
They have played pit with him, IMG 5985
hung out,
  IMG 5984
and helped him pick out his meals. IMG 5969
Evren even spent his own money buying Grandpa a heart friendly granola bar! IMG 6007
He is in a good place.
And was lucky enough to receive a warning, and not a full blown attack!
As we were leaving, we played by the fountain, IMG 6008
Yale has a very pretty lobby, it makes me want to have a latte and read a magazine.
Or something....

We decided to take Grandma out for a nice meal, get her a drink, help her relax. IMG 6012
She will be staying with us until my Dad gets released, so the kids have been very happy to have her on a big sleepover!
You just never know what life will throw at you, and the one thing I have learned is that there is nothing more precious and basic than having your health.

Oh Kim! I'm so glad they caught this early. So scary. It's amazing how quick something like this can happen and put a whole new spin onto how we view life. Your family is in my thoughts. Hugs to you all. See you soon.

I am so sorry Kim. It is so hard. I am crossing my fingers that it is a couple of stents. Our thoughts are with you all.
