The Barn

The critters still chug along in this cold. Day after day, rooting out the sunshine when they can find it, hunkering down when they need to. Thankfully, this winter has been amazing compared to last years cruel, relentless, hammering.

A goose has begun laying. It's too early for babies, so we are taking the eggs for now but will leave them  again at the end of March.
We hope for Goslings. IMG 0655

I wonder if the other goose will lay as well? This is her first spring, I am not sure what to expect. I think she will lay, but I wonder if she will sit? She may be too young.
Time will tell.
Usually during these dark months, we only attend to the basic needs of the animals. The mild season this year has allowed for more visits than normal, and that is a good thing.

So far, we seem to have out foxed the fox. We saw him trying to snap at chickens through the fence, but  as of yet, he has not gotten in.
How long do you think this will last?
Soon it will be kit season.. They'll be desperate to feed their young.
A desperate fox is impossible….
