Sleepy Hollow

The past couple of trips to visit us, Dede and Babaanne always have commented on American Cemeteries.

They think they are beautiful and park like.

Cemeteries are quite different in Turkey. You can't compare the two. So we decided to take a little road trip to a beautiful huge cemetery.

The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

Ever heard the tale of Ichabod Crane, and the Headless Horseman?
Yep, that place.

Gotta love New England!
We first went to the Mausoleum section.

Some of them were quite gorgeous inside.

This is the Rockefeller family's.

 You could not see inside.
The one thing I love about Cemeteries are the the sculptures.

And just the setting is quiet and lovely.

The kids love to meander around,

 and well, run,

and maybe climb a tree,

and a teeny sword fight, perhaps...

But not enough to wake the dead, you know.
After a bit of that we decided to head into downtown Tarrytown, NY for some pizza,

a walk,

and ice cream.

Dede and Marlin wanted to see the Hudson river up close,
On our way home, we all went to visit Great Grandma.

It made for a special ending to a pretty nice day.
