After the Cavern we decided to go the National park in Virginiai. It was huge, it was beautiful, and we thought that maybe we could spot a black bear! The windy drive through the trees with the bluridge mountains out in the distance was spectacular. We chose a hike that was just over a mile that followed a creek ( duh..) and boasted a 70 foot waterfall. It was such a beautiful spot.
We found a small but deep pool with native trout, who sparkled if the light hit them just.
Look, the sparklyness just hypnotized her!
Finally, we made our way to the falls, which were lovely. Thunder had been making it's prescence known and the wind was picking up, so we could not stay long.
We slowly made our way back to the trail head, climbing and searching for critters all the way.
We made it just in time. The sky opened up to a full on downpour. So we wandered over to the parks visitor center to take refuge from the hail, and to check out the parks heritage.
I would love the opportunity to come here again, and spend the day just soaking it all in, and perhaps be treated to a bear sighting..
I can't even imagine what this place would be like in the fall.
