Salamander Egg update for the Heart Rockin' Kids.

During their visit with us, we hiked about and found some Spotted Salamander eggs in the shallow creeks. I promised them some photo updates.
So that is what I am doing!
Plus for everyone else, it's just so darn interesting.
When you all were here, the eggs looked like this.

See how round the embryo was? How clear the egg membrane was?
Look at it now. They have begun elongating, and you can see some tail definition forming.

It has yellowed and gotten cloudy. Kind of hard to see in there but they look like backwards C's, and are the color of a slug. If you click on the image it will get larger and I think you can click again, and it will zoom in. At least, my computer it does..
Pretty cool.
We'll hike back and check them out again in about a week.  Marlin, Kaya, and Evren send hello's to you!

Love this kind of thing!
